Penance, alms and prayer. How to experience a truthful Lent?

Millions of Catholics around the world celebrated on Wednesday the beginning of Lent and Macau was no exception. In the local parishes, thousands of faithful, representing several different linguistic communities, took part in the symbolic ceremony of the imposition of ashes, a ritual that reminds Catholics of their condition as sinners and invites them to penance, reflection and conversion.

CHANCERY NOTICE – Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace

In response to Pope Francis’ appeal concerning the situation in Ukraine, Bishop Stephen LEE has instructed that all parishes to arrange a one-hour public Eucharistic adoration on 2nd March (Ash Wednesday) to pray for the intention of peace. Parishioners are asked to take note of the details released by their parishes. It is also the Churchโ€™s established day of penance and Catholics of the required age are obligated to observe fasting and abstinence.

USJ to cooperate with East Timorโ€™s Catholic University

The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) will collaborate with Saint John Paul II Catholic University, a newly established East Timorese higher education institution. As soon as the epidemic scenario allows travel to resume, USJ intends to institute exchange programs with East Timorโ€™s Catholic University for students and teachers alike.
