Public lecture series: Facts about Jesus’ fate

O Clarim News Desk (English)

The Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy will organize a public lecture on “Evidence & God” titled “The facts about Jesus’ fate on which all historians agree” at the Don Bosco Auditorium, USJ Ilha Verde Campus on April 26th 2022 from 7 pm to 8.30 pm.

The talk will be delivered by Dr. Mike Licona, associate professor of theology at Houston Baptist University. He is also a member of the Society For New Testament Studies, and is the author of numerous books.

ABOUT THE TALK:

History is a discipline in which the political, philosophical, and religious opinions of historians very often influence their conclusions more than the historical data. Objectivity in the study of Jesus of Nazareth is extremely rare. In this lecture, Dr. Licona will discuss facts about Jesus’ fate for which the supporting data are so strong that a heterogeneous consensus of scholars grant them as ‘facts.’ He will further discuss where he thinks the facts point toward.

ABOUT THE SERIES:

Can we know that God exists? Is there evidence for God? Is there a conflict between science and religion? What constitutes good evidence for a religious claim? This lecture series explores answers to these questions.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

The lecture is a free event and is open to the general public. Sessions will be conducted in English. Those who desire to attend the talk online may click on the zoom link below:
