Marian devotion sets the tone for the “Litaniae Lauretanea” art exhibition that was inaugurated last Saturday at Rua Formosa. The exhibition is one of the initiatives that the Macau Catholic Culture Association will promote until the end of the month as part of the celebrations of May, the Month of Mary.
Mary did not have a complete picture of the mission she had undertaken. She was progressively growing into that realization. She marvels at what Simeon said about the child. She is almost taken by surprise. She was amazed before God’s works, as were the apostles and all the people.
Mary is the lighthouse that guides us to Christ. The only way our spirituality can falter is when our devotion to the Mother of God is an inauthentic, self-serving one.
By bringing forth our Lord and Savior, Mary reveals the face of God, the source of our ultimate joy and happiness. She is indeed the best teacher, who leads us to her Son, that we may through him know the Father.
Dearest Mother Mary and Saint Joseph, pray for me that I may have the faith you both lived. When questions arise in my heart, help me to respond generously to God as you did. May I trust in all that God has spoken in imitation of each one of you. Jesus, I trust in You.
