Bracing for another Covid-19 wave

Better safe than sorry. Caritas is set to prepare for the unforeseen consequences of an eventual Covid-19 outbreak in Macau and will organize lectures this week.

One was held on Monday and the other will be conducted on Wednesday.

Aimed mainly at social and health workers, the initiatives aspire to prepare the participants for a possible outbreak of Covid-19. The virus is once again putting the resilience of mainland China’s population to the test. Caritas was recently in the eye of a storm, after an employee at one of its nursing homes was considered a close contact of a patient infected with Covid-19.

“In one of our nursing homes, we had an employee who was considered a close contact of an infected person. The nursing home had to be placed under confinement. If a similar situation occurs, what should we do? We want to prepare our employees so that they can have the best possible emotional response and develop the most appropriate attitude in a crisis situation. These lectures are an opportunity to discuss these issues with a larger audience,” Paul Pun Chi Men, the Secretary General of Caritas Macau told O Clarim.
