“Escola Católica Estrela do Mar” sets up Fr Tam Chi Cheng scholarship

Escola Católica Estrela do Mar is celebrating its 60th anniversary on December 8, 2015. Two Masses will be held on December 7 at 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM, at St Lawrence Church.

Principal Mr. Vong Pio told O Clarim: “We will continue the spirit of Jesuit education from the past, and try adapting to society in future with new educational methodology.” He explains that new methodology should be shaped by continuous training, which includes courses offered by DSEJ as well as the Jesuit community. The school will also offer as many platforms as possible for teenagers to express their talents.
“On the other hand, in order to commemorate the achievement of our ex-principal Fr Tam Chi Cheng, SJ (譚志清神父), we are going to offer scholarships and financial aids under his name. We have agreed to provide a total sum of MOP 30,000 starting from this academic year.” He added that “with the help of Associação de Caridade Chi Cheng (Chi Cheng Charity Association), we will be able to secure the source of funding if we can’t meet the target during our fund raising campaign.”

“Colegio Mateus Ricci” thanks alumni for unceasing support

Another Jesuit school Colegio Mateus Ricci will likewise celebrate its 60th anniversary. A thanksgiving Mass will be celebrated in advance on December 5, 2015, at 10 AM in St Lawrence Church.
Principal Ms Irene Cheung told O Clarim that “our school would like to take this opportunity to thank all our passionate alumni for their ceaseless support for their Alma Mater. We thank God for his grace and protection of our mission in the educational field. We will carry on the spirit of our past principals to respond to the needs of our society, especially to the weak and those in need.”
