The correlation between medical ethics and Catholic social doctrine will come under scrutiny in the twelve-session course that the Diocesan Commission for Catechetical Formation will launch later this month. The classes will start on September 11 and run until January 15, 2024.
In Macau’s largest parishes, catechesis classes will mobilize more than 100 children, O Clarim was told by the Diocesan Commission for Catechetical Formation. The number refers only to the Cantonese-speaking Catholic community. In the smaller Portuguese-speaking community, about 130 children – distributed by the Cathedral parish and by Our Lady of Carmel parish – will attend catechesis this year.
Born to a rich family in southern France, Roch of Montpellier devoted himself to the care of the sick and the Catholic Church immortalized him with the status of protector against infectious diseases, patron saint of the invalids, surgeons and falsely accused people and defender of dogs. In Macau and around the world, devotion to Saint Roch was restored due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
