YOUTH DELEGATES OF THE DIOCESE OF MACAU ATTEND INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FORUM IN ROME

– Benedict Keith Ip

The Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life held the “International Youth Forum” in the Vatican from June 19 to 22 in response to the opportunity provided by the General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops. This forum aims at providing direct communication among young Catholics around the world. In addition, the conference will also conduct formation and sharing on topics related to the Final Documents, pastoral experience, vocational discernment, Catholic faith and so forth.

To this end, the Macao Diocese sent members of the Diocesan Preparatory Committee for the Year of the Youth, Lúcia Lau do Rosário and Michel Ng, to attend the meeting. They departed on June 18 to attend the Forum with the youths from Hong Kong, Taiwan and all over the world. Lúcia, who is also the president of the committee, told us that this will be a good opportunity to exchange and learn from other countries’ experience as well as to broaden their horizons on youth matters. She also hopes to bring the experience back to Macau to foster new ideas for the Diocese. She added that after returning from Rome, they will host a sharing section among the Preparatory Committee so that international experience can be integrated with Macau.
