Archbishop-elect Msgr. Ante Jozić was critically injured in an accident in Split, Croatia on 7 April. After 10 years of service at the Holy See Study Mission In Hong Kong, Msgr Ante was appointed Apostolic Nuncio of Ivory Coast and Pope Francis had elevated him to the status of Archbishop. His Episcopal Ordination was scheduled for May 1 in Split, his home diocese in Croatia.
An official communique from the office of the Holy See Study Mission in Hong Kong on 10 April stated “that the health condition of Msgr. Ante Jozić remains unchanged.” The ordination “has been suspended until a new date has been announced.” On the same day, a Mass was offered at the Hong Kong Cathedral by Fr Dominic Chan, concelebrated with other priests, including Msgr. Javier Herrera Corona of the Holy See Study Office.
