Last Monday, O Clarim was visited by three young girls between the ages of ten and thirteen, winners of the 2019 Cooking Competition, part of the “Art of Living” (AOL) project, guided and organized by the Wahn Tihng center. Michelle Ferreira Lei, Matilde Neves Augusto and Nicole Faith Rivera were accompanied by Myrna Badua – instructor of the winning team – and staff of the Wahn Tihng Center. In the brief visit, they wanted to thank the support of O Clarim in their activities and surprised the office staff by presenting it with the winning cake – made by them again – from the “Baking & Icing-Decorating” competition.
After a brief presentation by each of the young girls and the introduction of the team and the cake, it was followed with a taste test of the winning “piece,” each one being offered a nice slice of cake from another galaxy – for the brightness, taste and elucidating decoration of the cake named: “Galaxy Mirror Cake.” We learned that it was a “red velvet cake,” a rich reddish cocoa cake, stuffed with cream cheese frosting. As for its lovely finish, nothing better than the picture to describe it.
In Macau, AOL’s program of activities – which began in January 2018 at the Wahn Tihng Center – is focused on cooking for girls ages 9 to 14. One of its goals is to enable young women to develop domestic skills that will provide them with a happy family environment.
AOL had its origins in the US and extended to countries in Europe, as well as Asia.
Until the end of this year, the Wahn Tihng Center has a number of activities such as: cooking and pastry, family orientation sharing, demonstrations on flower arrangement, choir practices, visits to the elderly, Christmas service projects, and workshops for university students. The Center also offers small monthly Recollections and Doctrine classes for ladies and young girls (on separate dates).
The Wahn Tihng Center began in the territory in May 1990 and its spiritual formation is in the care of Opus Dei. It is a project of the East Asian Educational Association (EAEA), a non-profit organization registered in Macau.
