O CLARIM CONTRIBUTOR IN EWTN MASS – Porfiri’s compositions in a tribute to Mother Angelica

– Marco Carvalho

The Chapel of the Teutonic Cemetery, at the Vatican, hosted on March 27th a Mass to honor Mother Angelica on the occasion of the third anniversary of the death of the well-known sister and communicator. German Archbishop Georg Gänswein presided over the celebration and O Clarim contributor Aurelio Porfiri was invited to direct the choir.

The Italian composer, who was also the organist during the ceremony, interpreted several of his compositions, one of which was purposely conceived for the occasion: Mother Angelica, foundress of EWTN, was a great woman and with a great Catholic sense of life. This year we have celebrated the third anniversary of her death. A Mass was celebrated by Msgr. Georg Gänswein in the Chapel of the Teutonic Cemetery in the Vatican and the EWTN office in Rome invited me to organize the music for this event,” Mr Porfiri recalls.

“The program brought together chant and some of my compositions. With the exception of the Responsorial Psalm in Italian that I wrote specifically for that Mass, the other compositions have been published in O Clarim,” he added.
