On 8th December, Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady, one of the primary patron saints of the Diocese of Macau, Fr Domingos Un of the Our Lady of Carmel Parish explained that the Virgin Mary was favored and pleased by God because she had a pure heart. “She didn’t have any sins and relied on God wholeheartedly,” he said.
After the 11:00 AM Mass in Portuguese, a procession of the Blessed Virgin Mary was held immediately. The procession started from the parish and marched around the streets of the parish, followed by about 200 faithful and some parents with their children. Along the way the Rosary was recited in Cantonese, English and Portuguese.
The procession lasted for one hour and then went back to the church. Then Fr Un Wai Meng, Fr Ramon Manalo and Fr Eduardo Aguero gave the blessing to the faithful. During the blessing, Fr. Ramon Manalo reminded the faithful to thank God for giving them opportunities to give devotion to Mary, not to forget to ask Mary our heavenly Mother to pray for the peace of the world and the repentance of sinners.
