The Centro de Cultura e Artes Performativas Cardeal Newman de Macau (CCCN) held on 24th July 2021 the Summer Concert with the participation of students and young adults from various high schools in Macau. In line with the theme of the concert to celebrate the excitement and energy of summer, the participants presented a variety of genres from jazz to popular music.
The Summer Concert is the second of a performance series that CCCN Macau are hosting under the theme Four Seasons. The Newman Center worked closely with students from high schools who are truly passionate about music and are interested in pursuing music as a career in the future. The event gave them an opportunity to perform and to connect with the local community, following the CCCN Macau’s motto: “Heart speaks to Heart.”
Five distinguished guests graced the occasion: Dr. Rui Jóse da Cunha, President and Founder of Fundação Rui Cunha; Mr. Robert Alexander, Principle of Macau Anglican College; Dr. Kevin Thompson, OBE Legion d’honneur, Austrian Grand Decoration of Honour, The Master, Moon Chun Memorial College; Dr. Patricia Thompson, Chevalier de l’Odre des Palmes academiques, Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) Emeritus Fellow, Supernumerary Fellow of Moon Chun Memorial College; Eileen Stow, Vice Chairman of British Chamber of Commerce in Macau and Chief Executive of Lord Stow’s Bakery.

The Director of Centro de Cultura e Artes Performativas Cardeal Newman de Macau (CCCN), Agnes Wong in her closing remarks said “It was great to see young musicians perform tonight by giving their best to make an enjoyable evening. We hope that our Cultural Center will become a new symbol for arts and culture and to build a bridge for interaction with the community, so that the new generation of artists in arts and cultural development can have more opportunities and experience for creative inspiration and exchange.”

Nearly 40 people attended the event among whom were music enthusiasts. The concert was held in the Art Exhibition room of the CCCN. Dr. Rui Cunha noted that “CCCN acts as a good platform for young talents and enthusiasts. We spent a memorable evening here, and it is such a fantastic concert.”
