LOVED FLOCK MACAU ON THEIR 23RD ANNIVERSARY – “Take courage, be still”

Ross Belle Santos-Balatbat

The Loved Flock Catholic Charismatic community Macau Chapter celebrated their 23rd anniversary last 9 August, that included a Bible enthronement, the Holy Mass, and a fellowship lunch.

Spiritual director Fr. Oliver Dave Estor, SOLT spoke of how the community contributes to the larger Catholic communities in in Macau during liturgical services. He also advised that life’s troubles should drive us to find a sanctuary to be silent and pause in order to hear the soft voice of God” so that they, in turn, may be like the “bridge over troubled water” for others, especially distressed overseas Filipinos.

In the midst of the pandemic situation the Loved Flock main community from the Philippines managed to put online the messages from the community elder and the presiding counselor of the community. The Macau Loved Flock members listened attentively to the messages.

The online message recalled the humble beginnings of the Loved Flock in Macau when that the first LSS in Macau was conducted in August 1997, facilitated by a team from the Philippines and with only five participants.  With the grace of God, the Macau chapter continued its growth every year, though members may come and go.  The message continued with the reminders from the elders to let the Macau chapter members be embraced by Mother Mary and through the LSS, learn to experience God and be transformed and not to focus on the weaknesses of others.

The celebration culminated with closing remarks given by the Loved Flock pioneers since 1996 and everyone went home happily and looking forward to the 24th celebration next year. Everyone look forward with ardent hope that next year will be a grace filled year for the Loved Flock and free from the pandemic situation.
