The churchgoers of the English-speaking community of the Macau Cathedral are welcoming the coming of the Advent season with excitement. This is because the Christmas novena Mass which was organized starting last year will again be celebrated this year in the Cathedral. After its announcement last Sunday, churchgoers went home with much delight and excitement, especially the Filipinos.
This year the novena Mass will be adjusted to 8:45 PM in the evening to accommodate those working late. It will run from December 15 to 23. Although the celebration has much of a Filipino tradition, the Filipino churchgoers of the Cathedral are of one heart to share this tradition with other nationalities. It is a gift to the Filipino culture that should be shared with others. The same is done by the Filipinos in the US, in Germany, in Hongkong and in almost all Filipino Catholic communities in the world. This is very significant because come 2021, Catholics in the Philippines will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Christianity in the country. The faith that we have received, now we share with others.
