AT THE CATHEDRAL – St Padre Pio Community holds first fiesta

The community of St Padre Pio English-speaking community of the Macau Cathedral celebrated their patronal fiesta last Sunday, September 22. The Padre Pio community is composed primarily of Filipinos, with some parishioners from India, Colombia, Mexico, and South Korea. The celebration was graced with the Mass at 5:00 PM celebrated by Bishop Stephen Lee, bishop of Macao with Fr Leonard Dollentas, the priest-in-charge of the English-speaking community, concelebrating.

After the mass, the community gathered at the gym of Colégio Diocesano de São José at the back of the bishop’s house for dinner and a  cultural show. Different varieties of food were contributed by the different communities and nationalities of the English-speaking community. The cultural show that followed after the dinner featured many  talents in singing, interpretative dance and cultural dance. Among others, two famous Filipino cultural dances were showed in the program: Cariñosa and Tinikling.

The community also invited the diocesan seminarians of the Macau Diocese who were grateful to take part in the dinner and to witness the cultural show.
