Pentecost celebration – United in One Spirit

Ross Belle Balatbat

The Pastoral Care for Migrants (PCM) broadened participation in its 5th Pentecost celebration this year, scheduling it during the daytime and holding the gathering at a larger venue — Saint Joseph Seminary auditorium.

This year Fr Alejandre “Andy” Vergara, Apostolic House Servant of SOLT missionaries in Macau, invited all Catholic charismatic movement leaders to organize the celebration which also included the 51st anniversary of the Catholic charismatic renewal.

The  celebration started off with a luncheon fellowship facilitated by the Family and Life ministry with Sandali Muna and The Loved Flock who served the llunch. Close to 600 faithful from different charismatic communities, parishioners and ministers of the Pastoral Care for Migrants, were greeted by the Y.E.S.

This was followed by the program proper facilitated by Bro. Bhryel John Balatbat of the Pastoral Youth Ministry and Bro. Sanel Dangaran of El Shaddai. The hot weather did not stop them as they actively participated in the joyful songs led by the Good Samaritans.  All were on fire as the Loved Flock resident speaker, Sis. Norma Layao, led the participants in Praise and Worship.

Another awaited feature of this year’s celebration was the the talk given by Sis. Emmamae Marcelo, an active young Evangelist and Catholic Lay minister of El Shaddai. In an interview, she shared that with the grace of the Holy Sprit, she wanted to share how one can be united in the Spirit. She gave practical tips on how to (1) learn to accept and respect differences among each other, (2) focus on the goal/vision , and (3) yield to the power of the Holy Spirit. Three sharers were invited to witness the works of the Holy Spirit in their lives, Bro. Jerry Canal of El Shaddai, lay sisters from the Couples for Christ – Vholets Suba (Global) and Maria Fe Soguilon (FFL).

The celebration was highlighted at the close of day by with the Pentecost Mass. It was truly a Spirit filled day of praise and worship, songs and prayers, as well as talks, testimonies, and liturgy.  Many communities but one in spirit.
