A team of 60 gaming operator Melco Resorts volunteers, consisting of adults and children, dedicated time last Sunday to the senior citizens of the Pou Tai Integrated Service Center for the Elderly, for an afternoon of games and recreational activities.

“Pou Tai Integrated Service Center for the Elderly provides for approximately 320 senior citizens over the age of 60; including daycare, care homes and accommodation for those in good health condition,” the Melco Resorts statement sent to O CLARIM reads, adding, “The center’s mission is to provide a comfortable environment for the elderly in which they feel well-respected, to facilitate a balanced state of body and mind.”

On Monday, May 14, same gaming operator announced benefits enhancement on maternity and paternity leave for eligible employees. Effective June 1, paid maternity leave will be increased from 56 days (8 weeks) to 70 days (10 weeks), and paid paternity leave from two (or 16 hours) to five days (or 40 hours) for all eligible employees.

“Employees have always been our top priority. (…) We believe the increased maternity and paternity leave benefits now announced for eligible employees will be a welcome incentive to further enhance Melco’s market leading position as a caring company,” Chairman and CEO of Melco Resorts Mr Lawrence Ho said in another statement send to us.

Following the Labor Affairs Bureau recommendation, and after Wynn Resorts, the other gaming operators SJM, MGM, Sands China and Galaxy Entertainment announced similar policies this week.
