CLIMAX OF A MUSICAL FEAST – Concert celebrates 80 years of Sacred Heart Canossian College English Section

The Music Association students of the Sacred Heart Canossian College English Section (SHCCEC) gathered in the Cultural Center of Macau in the evening of January 20 to for a concert to celebrate the school’s 80th-anniversary. The concert was performed twice in the campus on January 19, this being also part of the anniversary program of the SHCCEC.

The concert offered a variety of musical performance, such as percussion, handbell, string orchestra, GuZheng, and a high level of an orchestra performance.

Starting from 2007, the SHCCEC musical education program has been nurturing the musical and art talents of the students. It provides opportunities for students to perform in Macau and aboard. From the earliest school choir to the recently formed orchestra, students get professional training and guidance from Western to Chinese instruments and have earned a good reputation.

“All of us (in the college) here stand tall and jubilant as we bask in the ambience of an unforgettable night of memories created through the beautiful music we have made … as we reach out with love in our hearts, and celebrate our school’s 80th Anniversary with pride and confidence in our talents, and with the Lord’s guidance as the beacon that lights our way,” explained the student representative during the vote of thanks right before the end of the concert.

Scholarship named after Bishop Lee

Before the beginning of the concert, the College took the opportunity to congratulate Bishop Lee on receiving the Medal of Merit Award of Philanthropy from the Macau SAR Government, which is a recognition and affirmation of the contributions of Bishop Lee and the Diocese of Macau to society at large. On behalf of the college, Sister Principal Susana Yu congratulated Bishop Lee and announced the establishment of “The Most Reverend Bishop Lee Bun Sang Stephen Scholarship.” Every year, two students each from the primary and secondary will be granted the scholarship for their charitable and dedicated service to others.
