What we lose when music is not real prayer
Music is the way we speak to God and the way He speaks to us. We should not waste this privileged way of getting in touch with Him. Sacred music becomes incessant prayer that borders, in the most fortunate cases, with mysticism, with the deepest form of elevation to God. It may happen that while listening to a motet by Victoria you feel plunged into something in which you seem to get lost. This is because, going back to Augustine again, to fill ourselves with what we are empty of, we must empty ourselves of what we are full of.

Parishes pitch in to support Afghan refugees and children
Parishes of Macau arranged a second collection during the Sunday Mass on 16 January 2022. The donation was transferred to Caritas Macau to support Afghan refugees and children at the brink of humanitarian disaster. A total of MOP 400,000 was raised.
St Irenaeus, Oldest and Newest Doctor of the Church
Saint Irenaeus of Lyons, whose feast we celebrate on the 28th of June, just before Saints Peter and Paul, was recently declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope Francis.
USJ signs agreements with Guangdong universities
The University of Saint Joseph is a step closer to fulfilling its aim to demonstrate that it is “a university in, of and for Macau” and “in, of and for China”. The Catholic-run University announced recently that it has signed exchange agreements with two higher education institutions from the neighbouring province of Guangdong.
Prayer service brings together Christians communities
The Prayer Service for Christian Unity, that usually brings together the different Christian denominations of Macau, will take place this Saturday, but it will be conducted in a virtual format only. The decision was made by the organizers early in the week, following the aggravation of the epidemic in several cities of the neighbouring province of Guangdong.
