The FIRST DAY of January was a “3-in-1” – we celebrated three events in one day. As the whole world welcomed the 1st of January as the year’s opening date, the Catholic Church also celebrated the 54th World Day of Prayer for Peace and the Solemnity of Motherhood of Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation. This latter feast affirms how Christians honor Mary as the God-bearer. She did not only bear the Man: she bore Christ, the Son of God. The Church inspires us to bear Jesus in our hearts, whom Mary bore in her womb.
The cold did not stop the Catholic faithful of Macau from attending Mass as a thanksgiving for all the graces and blessings for the past year and to pray for blessings for 2021. A year has come and gone. Time passes so quickly. Let us hope that we will be more resolute in changing for the better in 2021. May we learn to be more grateful this year, and count our blessings every end of the day, offering to the Lord a prayer of thanksgiving.
