May 1st is the day of the feast of St. Joseph and the celebration of the parish feast day of St Joseph the Worker Parish. Parishioners gathered at the church to celebrate the 10:30 am Holy Eucharist, with Bishop Stephen. The mass was followed by a celebration of the sacrament of confirmation where eight young people and two adults faithful were confirmed. Five children received the first Holy Communion. A number of priests joined the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
Bishop Lee pointed out in his homily during the Mass that the busy life of the Holy Family set an example for the world. He reminded the church goers that St. Joseph was a great carpenter and the Lord Jesus also worked through daily activity and was helping hard to keep the house. Thus, through their work, the ordinary life of labor has been sanctified and presented precious dignity.
The bishop reminds those present that everyone must participate in work and do some job. Even the young and those who are very old can still so something for others. Even those retired, old or bed-sick patients, or even children should share the housework. “ As long as you do your part honestly and responsibly, do not be afraid to do something. By doing a hard job or a simple menial labor, one will definitely share in the mission of God. Moreover, we should always perform our work with charity and do what is right and beneficial to others; although we will inevitably encounter setbacks, misunderstandings, or face different temptations in our work, as long as we know how to dedicate our work to God, often pray for God’s help, pay attention to personal and family life, we will surely live the true meaning of faith in our work and work” the bishop emphasized.
After the mass, a lunch followed in the auditorium, with the parishioners and guests happily partaking the generously prepared food. A number of performances by parish members were presented, including singing, martial arts, priest chorus, sign language group singing and gift raffle.
After the event , the parish priest thanked the parish’s charity societies, service groups, and the faithful who came from other parishes. He mentioned that with the support of the parishioners and their encouragement, the Parish of St Joseph the Worker will continue to advance on the path of Christ’s evangelization.
