YEAR OF MERCY at the Faculty of Religious Studies

His Holiness Pope Francis has declared 2016 as an Extraordinary Jubilee to highlight the Catholic Church’s mission to be a witness of mercy to the world. During this Holy Year of Mercy, the Pope invites everyone “to live in the light of the word of the Lord: ‘Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful’ (cf. Lk 6:36).”  This Spirit-filled year is a time of grace, peace, conversion and joy.  In the words of Cardinal Walter Kasper, the Pope “is placing mercy at the center of our discussions, reflections and prayer for this coming year so that we can recognize ‘the real face of God’ which is often misunderstood as a punishing, insidious, even violent God.”

To share in the celebration of this Holy Year, the Faculty of Religious Studies of the University of St. Joseph cordially invites everyone to a series of conferences as its faculty members reflect on the theme of Mercy.
