Annual Filipino Christmas celebration
On the 6th of December 2015, the Philippine Consulate General in Macau SAR organized the annual “Paskong Pinoy” Christmas celebration for the Filipino community in the St Joseph the Worker Activity Hall at Iao Hon. There were more than 500 Filipinos in attendance.
The event began with the Eucharistic celebration at 11:30 AM followed by the get-together event. Lunch was included as well. There were many performances where various groups competed with each other. Most of them included caroling and song interpretation. However, BISDAK emerged as worthy winners.
Moreover, a food and dessert competition was held. The ‘Alpha Kitchen’ took home the grand prize in the main dish category with their creative binusog na pusit, a fusion of adobo and stuffed squid seasoned with flavors of sinigang, while the Macau Skills Group (MSG) took home the grand prize for the dessert category with their cassava bibingka, which was a crowd favourite. Other groups showcased their food from the different regions of the Philippines.
Batches 23 and 31 of the Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship (LSE) program, organized this year’s event. .Consul General Lilybeth R. Deapera thanked them during her opening remarks. Labor Attaché Vivian F. Tornea followed with a speech and expressed her well wishes to the Secretary of Labor and Employment, Honorable Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz.
This is the 3rd year in a row the Paskong Pinoy has been celebrated in Macau SAR. The event concluded with a raffle draw and the exchange of gifts.
